In my GIS lab I have established postgres and postgis databases for capturing all malaria related data. I was planing to use ZIgGIS for the connection between my ArcGIS and postGIS. I know this might sound cheesy but we have a severe lack of funds. Would I be able to acquire a free zigGIZ license for my work?

Sarel Coetzer, Medical Research Council, South Africa: sarel.coetzer@mrc.ac.zaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4608898744855820995.post-49920483876247015502007-12-20T14:14:00.000-05:002007-12-20T14:14:00.000-05:00@bobintn - we spent countless hours doing detectiv...@bobintn - we spent countless hours doing detective work trying to shake out exactly what ArcMap required of our code to allow direct editing. We never found joy. Yes, our approach is somewhat akin to pg_arc, but differs in all the ways that matter. And actually, believe it or not, has some benefits over direct PostGIS-Editor integration. However, that discussion requires a greater commitment and a post about such technical details is to come. For now, allow me to say that ultimately that end-user experience will be completely - in a word (of which I fumbled for in the screencast) - seamless.xanadonthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16857456234252055170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4608898744855820995.post-68007858986028971592007-12-19T21:43:00.000-05:002007-12-19T21:43:00.000-05:00Abe;Great work. Sorry if some of my comments and/or questions are ignorant.
Why can't the editing be handled through the Editor toolbar directly into PostGIS? Are they technical reasons or reasons of logical flow of database manipulation?
Does the tmp layer showing up in the TOC mean that their is actually a temporary copy of the data stored on hard disk (sans pg_arc)?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
